W1: Week 1: Packaging Fundamentals & Materials
Functions of packaging, packaging materials - paper, glass, metal, plastics, laminates, biodegradable materials, material properties - barrier, mechanical, thermal, optical, material selection criteria.
W2: Week 2: Packaging Methods
Vacuum packaging, modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), aseptic packaging, retort packaging, active packaging, intelligent packaging, edible coatings and films, packaging equipment basics.
W3: Week 3: Shelf Life, Labeling & Machinery
Shelf life estimation, factors affecting shelf life, accelerated shelf life testing, migration and safety, FSSAI labeling requirements, nutritional information, barcode, QR code, packaging machinery - filling, sealing, capping, labeling machines.
W4: Week 4: Sustainability, Live Projects & Certification
Sustainable packaging, recyclable and compostable materials, packaging waste management, extended producer responsibility (EPR), live projects - complete packaging solution for a food product including material selection, method, shelf life study, label design, sustainability assessment, complete documentation, viva-voce examination, certificate distribution.
